Ivan PIRES, pianist
Brazilian pianist, is originally from the
city of São Paulo. He started his piano studies at the age of 11 in
Curitiba, Parana. He graduated in the Piano Performance from the School of
Music and Fine Arts of Paraná, under Leilah Paiva. Mr. Pires attended
several masterclasses, workshops, and festivals, where he had the
opportunity to work with renowed teachers, among them Roberto Domingos
(Brazil/Germany), Geir Braaten (Norway), Sumiko Hasegawa (Japan), Olga Kiun
(Russia/Brazil), Luis Senise, Homero de Magalhaes and Maria Leonor de Macedo
(Brazil). |

He performs
regularly in Brazil and Europe, with several musicians, such as Thibault
Vieux, French violinist and member of Paris Opera House Orchestra, Elena
Koynova, Bulgarian violinist and member of Amazonas Philarmonic Orchestra,
as well as the Brazilian singer Rosemara Ribeiro, Brazilian alto and others.
He has
performed in prestigious Brazilian Halls such as the Cecilia Meireles
Hall, in Rio de Janeiro and the Amazonas Theatre in Manaus. He has also
featured at the Brazilian Embassy in Rome during the Brazilian 500-year-discovery
celebrations and at "Casa do Brasil-Pedro Alvares Cabral", Museum
of the Discovery in Santarém, Portugal. He has recorded interviews and
recitals for several Brazilian television and radio programs, taking part
in the "Programa do Jô", a Talk-show Program TV with a wide
audience all over Brazil.
Mr. Pires was the director of the "Pianoforte Series", wich
featured local musicians as well as national and international artists
in Curitiba. He worked as a piano tutor at both Amazonas State Universityand
"Claudio Santoro" Cultural Center in Manaus and he has been
participating as a collaborative artist in the Opera Festival at Amazonas
Theatre.
Currently, he lives in Paris working as a teacher, recitalist and collaborative
artist.
